Ira Owen Østbø was one of the contributors to the book "History of emigration from Nordmøre – Stangvik and Surnadal Parish (Norway))" - Part V - published in 1986 by Dordi Glærum Skuggevik.


Ira Owen OSTBO Died suddenly at home November 27th 2009. Born to Endre and Benna Ostbo in Everett, Wa July 10, 1922 immigrants of Norway.

The family lived in Medina, Belle vue and Clyde Hill where they ran the King of Shrubs Nursery until 1979.

Owen graduated from Belle vue High School as did his children and grandchildren.

Owen served in the Army Air Corps 493rd Bomb Group flying 32 missions out of Debach England over France, Belgium and Germany at the tail gunner position of both B24 and B17 Bombers. Further public service includes 25 years with the Bellevue Fire Department. He joined VFW Post 2995 in 1944 while overseas.

Owen is survived by wife Lillian of 58 years. Daughter Karen and Dean Lawrence their children Jesse, Martin and Benna. Son Arne and Sally Ostbo, Son Karl and Nancy Ostbo their children Eva, Tara and Amy. Son Paul and Regina Ostbo.

Memorial Service will be held 4:00 p.m. December 10th at VFW Post 2995 located at 4330 148th Avenue, Redmond, WA 98205.
